WBO super flyweight title
Omar Andres Narvaez 39(20)-1-2 vs. Hiroyuki Hisataka 22(10)-10-1
I’m not going to pretend this is going to be a war. Narvaez has been bossing around the super flyweight division for 3 years now. Prior to that, he was just as impressive in the lower weight divisions. That’s what’s expected if you’re a 3x world titlist in 3 weight divisions.
In fact, had he never taken that fight against Nonito Donaire — a fight in which it looked to me as thought he was there to collect a paycheque — Narvaez would still be undefeated.
I can’t really accuse Narvaez of wresting on his laurels. He recently defeated a hungry young lion in Felipe Orucuta. But let’s just say I doubt Hisataka is much of a threat.
As for Hisataka, I do believe he earned this title shot by defeating Sonny Boy Jaro. However, Hisataka has already failed 3 times at capturing a world title. I doubt he’ll succeed this time against a man who should be regarded as the strongest titlist at super flyweight.
