Jorge Lara 22(15)-0-1 vs. Martin Casillas 13(8)-2

It kills me that no network has opted to pick up this fight because Lara is a legitimate prospect, and Casillas is just the man to give him a test.

Lara looks good. He’s 22-years-old, has fought decent journeymen opponents,  has a 65% KO ratio, and is on a 4 fight KO streak. What’s more, he can throw lightning quick combinations with power — overwhelming his opponents with activity.

Casillas, though, has a way of finding out if a prospect is legit. He sideswiped the careers of Edgar Monarrez and Isao Gonzalo Carranza. This year, he disrupted former WBC super flyweight challenger Juan Jose Montes by winning a split decision.

While Casillas is beatable, it should be acknowledged that both defeats were extremely close. Casillas has yet to lose definitively.

Prediction: Lara by UD.
