Time: 11:30PM ET / 8:30PM PT

Vacant WBC Continental Americas bantamweight title
12 Rounds

Hugo Ruiz 32(29)-2 vs. Julio Cesar Miranda 37(29)-8-2

Despite what the fight poster suggests, this is not for any semblance of a world title — not that it matters anyway. It’s a decent match-up.

Ruiz is a firecracker with an 85% KO ratio. Even so, earlier in his career he was KOed himself. One of the few times he went the distance, he lost by SD to Koki Kameda in a questionable decision. Either way, Ruiz can crack. If he touches an opponent’s chin, it’s over.

Miranda is a former WBO flyweight titlist. Since losing his belt to Brian Viloria, though, it’s apparent he’s been on the downslide. In his last 6 fights, he’s 2-3-1. Still, in his last fight he held Juan Jose Montes to a draw — so it’s apparent that something’s still there.

Will it be enough to resist the onslaught of Ruiz?

Prediction: Ruiz by KO5.
