WBO NABO heavyweight title
Seth Mitchell 26(19)-1-1 vs. Chris Arreola 35(30)-3
Both fighters are pretty much fighting for relevancy here.
In Mitchell’s favour, he rematched Johnathan Banks and beat him decisively after being KOed in Round 1 of their first bout. However, he did get knocked down again by Banks, though he got back up and won it.
But now those lingering chin issues raise a lot of questions, and it’s doubtful that Mitchell will ever live up to the hype generated before he met Banks. Yet, maybe this is a blessing for Mitchell since any win over elite opposition will now be regarded as achieving beyond his potential.
Arreola, for his part, was once considered a bona fide top 10 heavyweight who was nearing ever so close to another showdown with a Klitschko. Then Bermaine Stiverne derailed his momentum and he has to start over.
Mitchell is not a bad place to begin again, and if he gets the win, maybe Arreola could find himself in another title eliminator. Should he lose, Arreola may find himself precipitously close to gatekeeper status — and he might want to contemplate retirement.
Prediction: Arreola by KO4.
