Ryuji Hara
Ryuji Hara

Japanese minimumweight title
10 Rounds

Ryuji Hara 15(10)-0 vs. Takashi Kunishige 25(2)-9-2

This will be Hara’s 3rd defense of his Japanese minimumweight title. In this, he’s moving further away from prospect status and closer to being a legit contender.

Hara has wins over Shuhei Ito (twice) and Kenichi Horikawa.

One concern about Hara is that as his level of competition has increased his KOs seem to have dropped off. With a 67% KO ratio, Hara hasn’t won by stoppage in his last 3 fights.

Kunishige is a journeyman who has never reached elite level but has done good work in the Japanese domestic scene. While Kunishige has his fair share of losses, he does have wins against Norihito Tanaka, Yuji Kanemitsu, Ken Nakajima, and the previously undefeated Katsumi Makiyama.

Still, Kunishige is 3-3 in his last 6 fights. Though he’s had many chances for a Japanese title, he’s been unsuccessful in all attempts.
