Miguel Vazquez

IBF lightweight title
12 Rounds

Miguel Vazquez 33(13)-3 vs. Ammeth Diaz 32(23)-11 II

I’m not going to lie. I hate watching Vazquez fight. If you’re planning on checking this fight out, you’re a masochist.

Yet, there’s no denying that Vazquez has a strong argument for being the best lightweight in the world. This will be his 6th defense of his IBF title. Amongst his victories are wins over Mercito Gesta, Marvin Quintero, Daniel Attah, and Leonardo Zappavigna.

The secret of Vazquez success is that he runs, and runs… and runs — then will potshot his opponents, then run again. Few fighters have an answer for this style. Thus far, his only losses are to Canelo and Timothy Bradley — both fighters whom I’d consider elite.

This will be the second time Vazquez will be fighting Diaz. In their first fight, Vazquez almost had a shutout, and was only denied one by one a point on one judge’s scorecard. I don’t imagine a rematch ill go differently.

In Diaz’ defense, he won his IBF eliminator fair and square by KOing Marthin Gethin in Round 7. Diaz also has wins over Leonardo Zappavigna, Javier Castro, Cesar Soto, and Fernando Angulo.

Watch this if you dare.

Prediction: Vazquez by UD.
