Caleb Truax 22(13)-1-1 vs. Cerresso Fort 17(11)-1-1
Truax is mostly known for losing to — but knocking down — Jermain Taylor in his “comeback” fight. Back then, it was thought that Truax was a mere club fighter, and that Taylor was sharply on the decline since the knockdown happened at all.
Then a funny thing happened. Truax easily defeated Matt Vanda and Don George. The George fight, in fact, ended by KO6. Along the way, 3 of Truax’ last 4 fights were won by KO.
Truax, apparently, is no mere club fighter.
As for Fort, he was once a hot prospect who is no longer so hot after losing to John Jackson. He has since rebounded back with a win over durable journeyman Marcus Upshaw — who he previously drew against. Prior to the loss to Jackson, Fort has wins over Andy Kolle and the previously undefeated Dave Peterson.
If Fort is able to win against Truax, he will safely return into contention — the Jackson fight will be regarded as a momentary setback.
Prediction: Truax by KO5.
